"We envision community to be a sign of the presence of Christ among us and a source of great apostolic power."
- (CSA Constitutions)
As women religious, we freely choose to profess our commitment publicly through vows of poverty, celibate chastity, and obedience. Our life in community supports both our spiritual life and ministry.
"We see our life as an act of worship flowing from and progressing toward a life of union with God in Christ."
- (CSA Constitution #29)
We are committed to ministries that respond to the Church's call to hear the cry of the poor, following Jesus whose mission was "to bring glad tidings to the poor, to heal the broken-hearted, to proclaim liberty to captives, and release to prisoners." (Luke 4:18) We minister in the areas of education, health care, pastoral ministry, and social service. The Sisters of St. Agnes serve in the United States and Latin America.
We Are Women Who:
- Rely on God as one's Center for faith, courage, and hope.
- Live the gospel values through whole-hearted joy, genuine hospitality, and unassuming simplicity.
- Grow in a deeper love relationship with God through personal and communal prayer and through our vows of celibate chastity, poverty, and obedience.
- Strive to be flexible with the ambiguities of life and to adapt to circumstances when needed.
- Live a simple lifestyle; "Grateful for the goods of the earth, we desire to grow more dependent on God and more generous in sharing." (CSA Constitutions #15)
- Generously serve God's people … "aware that we, too, are among the needy and are enriched by those we serve." CSA Constitution #2)
- Share vision, worship, life and love through living with one another in community.
- Share a common vision for the next 4 years through the 2026 Chapter Statement:
Love Calls
As the Congregation of Sisters of Saint Agnes, we give witness to God’s love. Impelled by this love, we live with respect for creation of which we are a part, and we strive to be a hope-filled presence to those whose lives we touch, especially those whose faith life or human dignity is threatened.
- " … make all we do a work of evangelization: proclaiming the good news, forming Christian community, liberating the human person, and contributing to the transformation of human society." (CSA Constitution #50)
