Pre-Fair: Adopt-a-Highway Cleanup

Before the Earth Day Fair begins, CSA Associates invite you to join them at their adopt-a-highway location from 8:30-9:30 a.m.  on the morning of the Earth Day Fair. The group will gather at the Park and Ride lot on the corner of Winnebago Drive and Hwy 151 and work 45-60 minutes along the trail. 

Safety vests and bags are provided.  If you have a ‘reacher’ for picking up items, please bring it along. We have a few extra for folks to use. 

RSVP Requested! If you would like to join the volunteer team, please text, call, or email crew chief Joanna Schohl at 920-517-1387 or ludmi@att.net. In the event of questionable weather, use good judgment and don’t hesitate to contact Joanna.

Tours throughout the day

Explore on Your Own

10:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
The property will be open for the public to explore. Visitors are required to sign-in at the registration desk in Founder's Hall and wear a badge while on the grounds. Please stay on pathways and remember to take only pictures and leave only footprints.

 

Pre-registration is encouraged for guided tours. Sign-up will also be available at the event, if space allows.

Easement Tour

10: 00 - Noon  
The CSA conservation easement includes 237 acres.  This tour will begin with a shortened version of the standard solar array tour followed by a walk around other portions of the CSA conservation easement, including walking up a steep hill to see the oak forest and the prairie on top of the Niagara Escarpment. Ground conditions will be uneven and may be muddy in locations; please plan footwear accordingly and consider bringing a walking stick.

Easement tour will depart from the Founders Hall Entrance Doors.

Solar Array Tours

11:00 a.m. & 1:00 p.m.
Solar array tours will take approximately 45 minutes each and will cover uneven terrain that could be muddy in spots. Please plan footwear accordingly and consider bringing a walking stick.

Bird Walk

2:15 p.m.
Wrap up the Earth Day Fair with a guided birding walk through the oak forest and prairie. Birding experts from Glacial Lakes Conservancy will lead the tour. 100+ species have been identified on site, including the kestrel, tufted titmouse, and yellow-rumped warbler. Space is limited, so please sign up in advance or add your name at the registration desk during the event if is still available. Ground conditions will be uneven and may be muddy in locations; please plan footwear accordingly and consider bringing a walking stick.

The bird walk will begin at the entrance to the oak forest at the top of the escarpment. A minivan shuttle will depart from the Founders Hall entrance at 2 p.m. to assist those who cannot walk up the steep hill to the forest.

Presentations

Several 45-minute presentations will be available throughout the day. Each session will begin at quarter past the hour.

The Fond du Lac Wastewater Treatment & Resource Recovery Facility, named a 2016 Utility of the Future by the Water Environment Federation, has explored a multitude of pilot and full-scale phosphorus removal technologies. MAYOM - Winnebago Wild Rice Revitalization Project

Many partners are coming together to study habitat and ecosystems around wild rice in the Lake Winnebago region. Project Assistant for the Brothertown Indian Nation, Alex Mixtli, will discuss the significance of Mayom - Wild Rice restoration happening in the Lake Winnebago Watershed. The focus will be on the history of Tribal relationships with the Winnebago Waterways and with Mayom, the progress made by the Winnebago Wild Rice Restoration Project, and the plan to move into Lake Winnebago imminently. Learn more about how the project is progressing and what the future holds.
