Bending the Arc references a quote by Rev. Dr. King who said, “The arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends toward justice.” This digital newsletter from the CSA Justice, Peace, and Integrity of Creation office showcases the work of changemakers, opportunities to learn, and opportunities for you to help “bend the arc” toward justice. Full contents of the newsletter are published on this page.

Plastic-Free Toolkit

We are halfway through Plastic Free July. How many small changes have you implemented so far? Have you considered the clothes you wear??
If you want your next swap to be plastic-free, the easiest place to start is understanding what things are made of. Here are a few of the materials Sustainable Jungle has written about to help you avoid plastic.
Around the kitchen and home:
- Stainless steel for bottles, containers, and cookware
- Silicone where a reusable beats single-use plastic, with safety caveats
- Plastic-free water bottles
For the wardrobe and home products, natural fibers do not shed plastic microfibers and they break down at the end of their life:
- Natural and organic latex for mattresses, pillows, and stretchy basics
- Linen
- Hemp
- Organic cotton
- Lyocell (TENCEL)
- Cork
Sustainable Jungle’s roundup of sustainable fabrics goes through more and ranks them by impact. If you are still building your July habits, this PLASTIC FREE TOOLKIT is still free to download. May your new habits carry on throughout the year!
