International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples

As UNANIMA International continues the process of coming to completion, many are wondering how to stay connected to justice issues at the global level. Perhaps connecting with JCoR (Justice Coalition of Religious) is an answer. UNANIMA is just one of the 23 non-government organizations (NGOs) in JCoR that are accredited to collectively represent over 200 congregations of Roman Catholic women and men at the UN Headquarters in New York. JCoR is inviting sisters, associates, and partners in ministry to their “Global Community Hour” on Friday, August 8, 2025, from 8:00-9:00am CT. This meeting is part of a series of monthly online gatherings for Religious from around the globe to come together in prayer for our world and to shine a light on the most pressing justice issues emerging in your respective nations and regions.
This month, in advance of the International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples (Aug 9), JCoR hopes to raise awareness of the needs and rights of Indigenous Peoples. They are especially inviting individuals to share their experience in working with Indigenous Peoples. What are the justice concerns related to Indigenous Peoples in your region? How can we stand in solidarity, championing the rights of Indigenous? As usual, all voices and justice concerns are welcome in this communal space.
Feel free to list “Congregation of Sisters of St Agnes/UNANIMA International” in response to naming which Congregation/NGO of which you are a member or partner.
