Our Sacred Connection with Earth: A Reflection
Transcript
My name is Carol Braun, and I am in Associate Relationship with the Congregation of Sisters of St. Agnes
One of the things I enjoy most is spending time in nature and taking photographs of the wonders that I see. I find that immersing myself in nature helps me to feel peace and tranquility. It is good for my soul. I am at peace with myself and others. When I open my eyes, my ears, and my heart to the gifts that God has offered me to enjoy, I have felt a deeper connection to God and have become more aware of the interdependence of all creation.
As Pope Francis wrote in paragraph 84 of Laudato Si', "Our insistence that each human being is an image of God should not make us overlook the fact that each creature has its own purpose. Nothing is superfluous. The entire material universe speaks of God’s love, his boundless affection for us. Soil, water, mountains: everything is, as it were, a caress of God."
I invite you to join me in reflection and contemplation with my photos feeling the caress of God.
Thank you for joining me in this reflection. I leave you with paragraph 233 of Laudato Si', "The universe unfolds in God, who fills it completely. Hence, there is a mystical meaning to be found in a leaf, in a mountain trail, in a dewdrop, in a poor person’s face. The ideal is not only to pass from the exterior to the interior to discover the action of God in the soul, but also to discover God in all things.”
