Bending the Arc references a quote by Rev. Dr. King who said, “The arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends toward justice.” This digital newsletter from the CSA Justice, Peace, and Integrity of Creation office showcases the work of changemakers, opportunities to learn, and opportunities for you to help “bend the arc” toward justice. Day of Action for Gun Violence Prevention
Our country is reeling yet again after last week’s horrific shooting at Florida State University, where 2 people were killed and 5 others were wounded. This incident marks the 18th shooting on a college campus in 2025, and the 81st mass shooting of the year. Now, more than 44,000 Florida State students are left traumatized from this latest incident and two families are grieving loved ones who will never come home. This is not normal. Too many politicians have chosen to protect gun industries over human lives. We must continue to demand common sense gun laws that protect the rights of qualified gun owners, keep guns out of the hands of unstable or ill-intended individuals, and save lives.
Tuesday, May 20 is the 2025 Day of Action for Gun Violence Prevention at the State Capitol in Madison. WAVE (Wisconsin Anti-Violence Effort) and the Wisconsin Gun Violence Prevention Coalition invite YOU to join them for training in the morning so you feel confident meeting with your legislators in the afternoon. Lunch will be provided. A bus from Milwaukee to Madison is also being organized.
Though the Congregation of Sisters of St. Agnes has made a public statement for peace and nonviolence, affirmed by USA Associates, members of the CSA community attend action days in their own capacity, as a concerned citizen in the State of Wisconsin, when speaking to state representatives. They do not represent the congregation as a whole.
