Bending the Arc references a quote by Rev. Dr. King who said, “The arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends toward justice.” This digital newsletter from the CSA Justice, Peace, and Integrity of Creation office showcases the work of changemakers, opportunities to learn, and opportunities for you to help “bend the arc” toward justice. Celebrating Juneteenth!

Juneteenth, short for “June Nineteenth.” marks the day when federal troops arrived in Galveston, TX, in 1865 to take control of the state and ensure that all enslaved people were freed. Of course we know that the troops arrived a full two and a half years after the signing of the Emancipation Proclamation. Nonetheless, it finally happened! Read more to understand why here or in this Farmer’s Almanac article.
Juneteenth is considered the longest running African American holiday. A federal holiday since 2021, Juneteenth occurs this year on Friday, June 19. Communities across the nation hold celebrations on or around the date. Find an event in your area!
In Fond du Lac, join Ebony Vision’s Annual Juneteenth Celebration on Saturday, June 20, 11 am - 4 pm at Buttermilk Creek Park, 701 S.
