The Sisters of St. Agnes have always practiced the directive in their Constitutions which states, "we remember in our prayers the needs of the universal church and all peoples, living and dead."
The daily ministry of our retired sisters includes offering prayer and suffering for the intentions of others and they invite viewers to submit their petitions.
While we stay at home and socially isolate ourselves, the Sisters of St. Agnes are promoting a practice of praying in unity at 6:00 PM each evening regardless of time zone. In this time-sensitive prayer we can feel the unity of our joined intentional prayer during the coming months.
Those who wish to join in prayer may choose to use the suggested prayer on our "Pray With Us" page and also pass it on to others. Our aim is a global effect. If you have a particular prayer that you want to share, please send it (and your source) to email@example.com.
Prayer for March 23
Prayer during a Pandemic
by Sr. Chris Koellhoffer, IHM
Loving God, Holy One,
Your desire is for our wholeness and well-being.
We hold in tenderness and prayer
the collective suffering of our world at this time.
We grieve precious lives lost and vulnerable lives threatened.
We ache for ourselves and our neighbors,
standing before an uncertain future.
We pray: may love, not fear, go viral.
Inspire our leaders to discern and choose wisely,
aligned with the common good.
Help us to practice social distancing
and reveal to us new and creative ways
to come together in spirit and in solidarity.
Call us to profound trust in your faithful presence,
You, the God who does not abandon,
You, the Holy One,
breathing within us, breathing among us,
breathing around us, in our beautiful yet wounded world.
