CSA was honored to receive the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Spirit Award during Marian University of Wisconsin's Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Community Prayer Breakfast. In his remarks when presenting the award, Dr. George Koonce shared a Dr. King quote that he thought epitomized the Sisters of St. Agnes: “I would rather see a sermon than hear a sermon.”

Sister Jean Steffes, CSA General Superior, accepted the award, “We promote human dignity for everyone, but we also say that in promoting that human dignity we don’t do it alone and we are enriched by those with whom and for whom we serve. We grow so much by participation with all of you and we hope that you grow in participation with all of us.” She ended her remarks with a quote from the morning’s keynote speaker, Truscenialyn Brooks, who reminded those in the room that Dr. King’s work was far from over: “We’ve still got something to do.”
