By CSA Sisters of St. Agnes

Were you aware that over 150 Million People, 2% of the world’s population, are homeless?

Did you know that 1.6 Billion People in the world, 20% of the world's population, lack adequate housing?

The Sisters of St. Agnes are helping to address this shocking problem of world homelessness through the work of UNANIMA, a Non-governmental organization (NGO) at the United Nations which CSA helped found in 2002. UNANIMA is an international coalition of 22 congregations of women religious and friends as well as their mission partners.

UNANIMA desires to bring the voices of women religious and partners to the United Nations by naming our concerns and experiences as educators, health care providers, social workers, development and community builders.  This year, the United Nations called upon the sisters and our experience with the homeless to educate the members of the UN about this tragedy of homelessness. Homelessness is a worldwide problem, primarily affecting women and children. No country is spared from this painful reality. UNANIMA is working to change the perception that having a home is not a privilege but a basic human and civil right.

Sister Susan Seeby serves as the CSA liaison to UNANIMA and invites you to take some time to view the PDF linked below and learn about UNANIMA, how the United Nations functions, and the importance of UNANIMA’s work to end homelessness through advocacy at the United Nations.
