Who Are We?

§   As ecclesial women daring a gospel response:

We, the Sisters of St. Agnes, are a congregation of women religious with 305 vowed members and over 225 associates in the United States and Latin America.

With a hope-filled blessing from our founder, Father Casper Rehrl, "Oh how I wish that the Agnes Sisters might some day live on this beautiful land watered by these prolific springs," we reside on land east of Lake Winnebago in Fond du  Lac, WI.

§   As ecclesial women daring a gospel response:

"We envision ourselves as joyful witnesses of the risen

Jesus"; we dedicate ourselves to apostolic works; and

"joined in religious community we strive to root our

lives in Jesus Christ and to live with singleness of

purpose that among us and in our world the risen Christ be discovered and revealed." (Constitutions #3)

"We participate in the mission of Jesus Christ through teaching, healing, and related ministries aware that we, too, are among the needy and are enriched by those we serve."  (Constitutions #2)

§   As ecclesial women daring a gospel response:

We minister in 17 states in the United States and in the countries of Nicaragua and Honduras in Latin America.

Our ministries developed from the traditional works of education, health care, and social work.  Today our sisters serve as: educators, administrators, social workers, pastoral service ministers, musicians, liturgists, lawyers, artists, office workers, home health personnel, alternative health care personnel, chaplains, spiritual directors, massage therapists, psychotherapists, and consultants.

§   As ecclesial women daring a gospel response:

Our heritage calls us to nurture the seed of faith in others, and have a pastoral concern for those whose faith life or human dignity is threatened.   We respond to life with wholeheartedness and joy, with an unassuming simplicity in our relationships, and receive with genuine hospitality all who come to us.

§  As ecclesial women daring a gospel response:

We live in community with our sisters and share in vision, worship, life, and love. We bring to community our unique gifts, graces, and limitations.  "We have the sacred responsibility to help one another to live authentically the life to which we are called." (Constitutions #154)
