Opening Ritual of Chapter
photos
The invitation was presented to the attendees to enter into the transformative energy of the Spirit of Jesus Christ as they began their ten days of Chapter. The blessing included the naming and blessing of the four directions, water, earth, fire and air with a dancer picking up a symbol of each and moving to the North, West, East and South. A representative from each table brought up to the front a mixture of dirt from the places of ministry across the U.S. and Latin America where sisters live and work. The combined dirt was placed in a large glass vase and stirred with the water poured. The Chapter symbol is the lotus which grows out of muddy waters and yet is pure and beautiful. At night the plant goes down into the water and rises up again the next day. It is a symbol of resurrection and renewed life.
Farewell Celebration to General Council
The evening of July 3rd found CSA Chapter attendees in full celebration as they said their farewells to the leadership team. The Council rode into the Stayer Center parking lot on the back of a convertible and were greeted by horns, flags, streamers and hurrahs. Once in the center, they were seated up front with Sister Doris Klein as choir director leading song after song with words changed from familiar tunes. A surprise “genie” showed up and delivered gifts to each council member and the evening concluded with an ice cream social. (Photos below)
